CEU Training
An Instructor Led Training
Course Highlights
As part of professional development and continuing education programming, this live, instructor led training was designed to help learners explore the power of using digital media techniques to support patient goals. Synchronized IPADs allowed learners to explore featured technology during training.
AUDIENCE: Counselors and Art Therapists
RESPONSIBILITIES: Subject Matter Expert, Curriculum Development, and Workshop Facilitation
TOOLS USED: Synchronized IPADs, Live App Demonstrations, and PREZI
The Problem
Traditionally, art therapy has used tactile art media many people are familiar with like paint, clay, drawing materials, and textiles. However, as the field has progressed, so too has technology and the possibilities to integrate digital media into the practice. Many art therapists are not inherently opposed to digital media, they simply have not been exposed to the possibilities of using it within a medical setting.
The Solution
As a practicing medical art therapist, I was asked to share the ways in which I integrate digital media to meet patient therapy goals and objectives. I developed a training program to provided background, additional resources, live experiential learning, and presentation of case studies to support overall professional development goals.
The Results
Participants shared that they felt more comfortable exploring digital media after the training and could see how it could benefit their patients. Many shared they were excited to try some of the demonstrated apps and techniques. Throughout the training, learners were encouraged to experiment, makes mistakes, share ideas, and continue to explore as a group after the training.
